Are you still using fast food packaging? It could still be toxic

Despite a major overhaul of the production of fast food packaging, a new study has found that a significant portion still contains high levels of fluoride, which may cause cancer or other diseases。

Researchers from nonprofit organizations and government agencies worked together to test packaging at 27 fast-food chains and local restaurants across the United States。Their results, published in the journal environmental science and technology letters (EnvironmentalScienceandTechnologyLetters), which showed that 40% of samples in positive in fluorine detection, that is to say, perfluorochemicals existence。

Certain food packaging has a higher probability of containing fluoride。For example, fluoride was found in 56% of packaging samples for desserts and breads, and 38% of packaging samples for sandwiches and burgers。This time, all the paper cup samples tested negative for fluoride。

Growing concern about the potential threat to human health led manufacturers to phase out many PFCS, but scientists now believe their choice of similar alternatives could have the same impact。

Member of the study, the environmental working group (EnvironmentalWorkingGroup, EWG) bill walker in the mail, said in a press release: "all in all, this aspect needs more attention。We're not blaming fast food chains, or saying one is safer than another。They may simply not be being honest with their suppliers。”

Environmental working group called for food companies to further assess their supply chain, also hope that the United States food and drug administration (FDA) FoodandDrugAdministration, change the way to deal with this problem。

In addition to fast food packaging, car seats, receipts, canned food and other products are often touched by humans and contain toxic chemicals。
